It's not just jws. There are a lot of homophobics out there. The good news is, society seems to be getting more tolerant toward gay people. I hardly ever hear words like 'poof' anymore.

by smiddy inthe herald sun newspaper article titled "jehovahs baby rule " "a sick babyis under the guardianship of new zealand`s high court so she can receive life-saving blood transfusions.......she could develop life-threatening complications without a transfusion.. to be fair the article also states "she has been given a 90 per cent survival rate with treatment,but is likely to need a blood transfusion-which her parents will not allow as they are jehovah`s witnesses.. my observations /concerns are this : jehovah`s witnesses refuse blood transfusions.a baptised jw who takes a blood transfusion can/will be disfellowshiped for not abiding by jw`s doctrine.going against gb policy direction is causing division.. jehovah`s witnesses do not beleive in donating blood to a blood bank even if it is theirs for their own private exclusive use .. official teaching on blood by jehovah`s witnesses is, it is not to be stored, it is to be poured out on the ground.it is not to be used for any purpose.. jehovah`s witnesses will not use blood and bone in their gardens,they will not eat blood sausage,and a married couple will certainly not engage in sexual activity when the wife is menstruating.. the dilemma/inconsistencys :why is it only a conscience matter, no penaltys applied for anyone to accept every fraction of blood that is donated by other people.?
they will use blood that is donated by other people , processed in a laboratory into various fractions and injected into their own bodies , and they dont see a problem with this hypocricy ?

WTS soliciting donations in Southern California
by turtleturtle injust talked to an older jw in my old hall.
he said there was a special 2 hour elder's meeting recently in southern california spanning many counties and areas.
apparently, due to the massive jw growth, the rbc or wt (he didn't know which one) will be announcing they they are asking each family to contribute $10/month toward new construction of kingdom halls in the southern california area.. .

The year 1914
by Kool Jo inok...so after this new light came out in the watchtower study over the weekend...a couple questions:.
1. why is the year 1914 still relevant to the doctrine?.
2. what would the effects be in they were to ever drop the 1914 teaching in the future (let's say 20 years from now)?.

I did a search for 1914 in the CD Rom, and found it is far less mentioned recently than ever before. Remember what Franz said in C of C, that to make a change to something they just stop talking about it for a few years and people forget the old teaching. Then, they bring in the new teaching. So if 1914 is going to change, it's going to be marginalised in the literature for a couple of years.
On the upside, if they change 1914 it's gonna get a lot of jws thinking. And the ones that don't stop and think, you can still ask them questions that might get them thinking. No, they can't change 1914 imo because they'll lose too many of their constituents.

Gosh I've never heard of a Jw suing an employer over a religious matter. I've noticed America tends to have more of a culture of litigation than Australia. Here a Jw usually respectfully explains that they won't celebrate birthdays etc and people respect it and leave them alone. And workplaces have few patriotic ceremonies except when schools have ANZAC Day, but as a teacher I just sat at the back and the principals didn't care. We are much more laid back than our American brothers.
